Facebook Introduces Nascent Cloud Gaming Service to iPhones and iPads

In an exciting addition to its vast portfolio of features, Facebook has introduced a nascent cloud gaming service to iPhones and iPads.

The service will be available through a web application that people can add to their home screens like a native app.

As a user, you can play simple web games with the app, including the likes of Solitaire and match-threes. There is also the opportunity to stream graphics-heavy titles.

Facebook’s decision to launch the game is in line with other tech giants like Amazon and Microsoft.

These two technology giants have released PWAs or Progressive Web Apps for their cloud gaming services.

One confusion that persists about Facebook’s launch is how the users will locate the app. It’s a messy user experience because Apple does not allow third-party developers to steer their app users to websites featuring purchasing mechanisms that do not belong to Apple.

For now, the availability of the service remains limited to the US and parts of Canada and Mexico.

Google Decides to Make its Search Results More Explanatory

Have you ever wondered why Google is showing you a specific set of search results over others that might be there as well? If you have, Google trying to solve this by becoming more explanatory for you.

The search engine will now expand the information even more that comes along with the search results. It will make the process more transparent, helping users to better comprehend why they are getting specific website recommendations over others.

It will highlight the matching keywords between the link and your search strings, the related terms, and information on other pages that reference the link, helping you make sense for your local area.

However, it is not a radically new revelation strategy that Google has decided to come up with.

The How Search Algorithms Work page on Google Search already explains everything that goes into coming up with search results.

But, this time, rather than having a general outline of how the system works, you will get specific knowledge on how the algorithm policy is working for your search query.

Eventually, it will lead to the prediction of better results. Google will also make suggestions on improving the result by suggesting more precise terms. It will also advise on making better search strategies, such as recommending to put quotation marks around specific phrases.

Chinese Crackdown Efforts Reach Tencent

The State Administration of Market Regulators (SMAR), China’s antitrust regulator, has imposed a fine of 500,000 Yuan, equivalent to $77,141, for its anti-competitive behavior.

The regulator has cited violations in Tencent’s acquisition of Chinese music in 2016.

Courtesy of the acquisition, Tencent has become the owner of 80% of the exclusive music library resources.

The regulators find this anti-competitive and monopolistic as occupying such a high share of existing music resources gives Tencent an edge over its competitors.

Owing to its ownership, Tencent can reach more exclusive deals with copyright holders.

SMAR has asked Tencent and its affiliates to give up their exclusive music rights within 30 days. It has also prohibited the company to ask copyright holders for better terms compared to its competitors.

Protests Against the Bitcoin Law Hit the Streets in El Salvador

Protests have now come down to the street in El Salvador demanding a takeback of the country’s Bitcoin law. Many El Salvadorians were seen carrying banners saying No To Bitcoin.

The protestors call themselves the Popular Resistance and Rebellion Block.

While the El Salvadoran government, helmed by President Nayib Bukele, has passed the law recognizing Bitcoin as legal currency in the country, it will not become effective until September 7.

The Popular Resistance and Rebellion Block aim at canceling the law before that deadline.

The block believes "Bitcoin would facilitate public corruption and the operations of the drug, arms and human traffickers, extortionists and tax evaders.”

They see the digital currency to be only serving the interest of some large businessmen & organizations, helping them manage their ill-gotten money better.

They have also cited the volatility of the currency as a detriment, and big minus to its credibility.
