Google Gives a Makeover to its Emojis

As per a recent announcement made by Google, the search giant is giving a makeover to its 992 emoji designs.

The reason behind this makeover is Google’s mission to make its emojis “universal, accessible, and authentic."

Google will introduce these redesigned emojis along with Android 12.

As for the older versions, any apps using Google's Appcompat compatibility layer will support the redesigned emojis.

These emojis will be available this month on YouTube Live, Gmail, Google Chat, and Chrome OS.

If you are wondering if Google is making drastic changes to its emojis, you can rest assured that the search giant is only making slight tweaks to them.

The redesigning efforts are only focused on making it easy for people to recognize the exact meaning of these emojis.

Let's take the pie emoji 🥧, for example. Americans will identify it easily as classic American pumpkin pie, whereas British users will believe it's more of a tart than a traditional pie.

That is what Google is aiming to change by making emojis more universal. So, it will be easy for everyone to identify them.

With Vacation Home Prices Going up, Pacaso is Capitalizing on the Opportunity

Pacaso, a real estate start-up, is leveraging the fractional ownership model to make the most of the surge in vacation home prices across the country.

Redfin says that the covid pandemic has a deep impact on the prices of vacation homes, with average prices touching $468,000 in seasonal towns.

The model that Pacaso is following is quite simple.

First, the Cincinnati-based real estate start-up purchases luxury single-family vacation homes.

Then, the company goes on to sell the vacation homes to multiple buyers following a fractional ownership model as an LLP.

Austin Allison, the co-founder of Pacaso, says that they are giving a new twist to the age-old practice of co-ownership. Summing up their business model, Allison explained:

"Imagine if you and a small group of friends decided that you wanted to own a home together."

He adds further:

"That’s what Pacaso does, except for we handle all the details — everything from bill pay and maintenance to design — so that you can enjoy your second home and not have to worry about the headaches."

The maximum number of buyers that can co-own a property through Pacaso is 8. Having raised $90 million so far, Pacaso has all the funds it needs for further expansion.

Its recent funding was in March. The real estate start-up raised $75 million, then.

Rivian R1T & R1S Buyers Will Have to Wait Further as the Company Delays Delivery Again

If you were eagerly waiting for Rivian R1T electric pickup truck and R1S SUV, you will have to wait even further.

Rivian has announced that the delivery of their long-awaited R1T & R1S models will face further delays because of "cascading impacts of the pandemic."

The CEO of Rivian, RJ Scaringe, said in the letter sent to their customers that the most notable issue causing the delay in delivery is the global shortage of semiconductor chips.

He also mentioned in the letter that they will begin delivery of R1T in September, with R1S deliveries following shortly after that.

The previous deadline for delivery of a limited edition of Rivian R1T was to begin in July.

When it comes to the global chip shortage, Rivian isn't the only automaker feeling the heat.

Other leading global automakers like Toyota, Ford, GM, among others, are already feeling the impact of the semiconductor chip shortage.

UAE Meteorology Department Causes Heavy Artificial Rainfall

With temperatures almost touching the 50°c mark in the United Arab Emirates, the UAE meteorological department caused heavy rainfall in several parts of the country.

The Middle Gulf News reported that the National Center of Meteorology used cloud seeding technology to cause artificial rainfall.

Before going ahead with the operation, the UAE meteorological department issued weather alerts about possible convective cloud formations.

The United Arab Emirates has an impressive track record when it comes to artificial rainfall.

They have proved time and again that it is possible to cause artificial rainfall without any chemicals.

The country has caused rain using drones to apply electric shocks to the clouds.
